Must maintain a Healthcare Provider certification (BLS).
Certifications: Must be registered with the American Registry of
Radiologic Technology (ARRT) with the advanced registry in one of
the following: - Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI) - Vascular
Interventional Radiography (VI) - Cardiovascular Interventional
Radiography (CV) Must-Have: - High School Diploma or G.E.D.
equivalent is required. - Must maintain required hours of continued
medical education. Description: Under the direction of a
Radiologist, this role specializes in the performance of procedures
of an invasive nature to aid in the evaluation of pathological
entities as prescribed by a physician. Explains examination
procedures to patients and prepares patients for the examination.
Obtains additional information about the patient's medical history
as necessary. Prepares prescribed contrast media, medications, and
IV solutions for administration to patients. Reviews clinical data
on requisition, analyzes anatomical structures of patients, sets up
equipment, and assists Radiologist in performing complex diagnostic
invasive procedures. Prepares and sets up sterile equipment,
physiological monitors, pressure injectors, and imaging equipment
required for the procedure. Ensures that adequate supplies such as
needles, catheters, etc. are on hand and properly stored.
Replenishes supplies as appropriate. Actively assesses the
patient's condition before, during, and after all procedures as
part of the team. Manually controls the equipment to obtain the
proper diagnostic information for the area of the body being
studied. May assist with the training of new personnel and/or
students assigned to the division. Conducts all imaging procedures
while demonstrating the principles of radiation protection,
including patient shielding, equipment settings for dose reduction,
and using ALARA techniques. Resolves any image exceptions and
ensures high-quality image delivery into PACS, including viewing
images and confirming image/series counts. Completes all study
indexing, including study begin, study end, and completion of the
study in the Radiology Information System. Reviews and confirms
clinical protocols with the Radiologist before performing studies
as necessary. Demonstrates consistent Team Member Standards of
Excellence, including open communication, timely responses, and
displaying a positive attitude. Performs appropriate quality
assurance procedures. Documents in the medical record and radiology
information system to support all clinical and billing functions.
Performs related functions according to department protocols.
Utilizes independent judgment in determining appropriate imaging
techniques, patient positioning, and safety practices. Requirements
